Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
In a recent development, the Rajarhat police station has successfully arrested three individuals for cheating foreign nationals by operating illegal call centers in deserted houses. The accused will be presented in Barasat court today for further legal proceedings.
According to sources, the police received information about an illegal call center running in a deserted house located in Rexjoni Azad Nagar, Rajarhat. Acting on this tip-off, the Rajarhat police station conducted a raid and apprehended three youths from the location.
Upon questioning, it was revealed that the accused had been using mobile hotspots for internet connectivity to call foreign nationals. They would identify themselves as surveyors and offer free installation of lifts in the homes of these individuals. However, once the unsuspecting victims agreed to the proposal, the accused would extract money from them on various pretexts.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Abhay Sharma, Vivek Kumar Sharma, and Raj Mitra. While Abhay Sharma and Vivek Kumar Sharma reside in Laketown, Raj Mitra is a resident of Rajarhat.
